After few days in California, and after the first racing effort, I am improving a bit and I feel better.
The time trial [stage 3] was good training, and working for more than 30 minutes has helped me in the longest stage, where I was able to catch the main breaks. Unfortunately there was a well placed rider in GC: my friend and former teammate Horner. The break gained more than a minute, but Phonak was chasing hard behind. So I asked Horner to stop but he didn't and then I decided not to pull so much, because we were hopeless with Horner in the break. Anyway this is racing, but this effort is helping me to find a better level for next races.
Today's route [stage 4] was really amazing, along the Pacific Coast Highway. Even with the fast pace I couldn't have had a nicer view. The temperatures, after some cold days, are what I like most. And finally I left a sign in this race, winning a KOM and placing second in another one.
The level here is pretty high, as this race is well organized, probably one of the best one I've ever done. It deserves a ProTour level.
Keep you updated,
Marco
