The Giro d'Italia Begins

This week I finally feel like I have recovered from jet-lag. Tiredness after Georgia and a stressful trip made last week's training rides easy and relaxing. I did between 2.5 and 3.5 hours, and just in the last 3 days I rode for 4hrs with some climbing. Today was my last day of training at home. I will leave tomorrow [4 May] morning for Reggio Calabria. So this morning I decided to do two short climbs (one 4K long, the second 6K long) to size my fitness level and I've found out I beat my personal records, which is a good morale boost! That means I have recovered well from the trip to Georgia.

I am preparing the bag for the Giro d'Italia and will take with me the notebook, so I can update you whenever is possible. The goals of the team will be defined in the next few days, but of course we want to win a stage and make a good GC with Manuel Garate or someone else. The Giro is very hard and the GC will be for climbers, but I think I can ride very well.

I am very happy and enjoying the moment. This evening I will call all my relatives and friends for a big hug, a moment in which I will receive all the energy for the next 3 weeks.
Bye! Marco

He was often criticized by the nay-sayers for not getting over the big mountains. True, he never made it to Paris. But, he knows his talents. He got paid to win races and get publicity for his sponsors., "The End of an Era"
