BiciRace.com: Do you have time for a quick chat?
Matteo: OK, yes.
BiciRace.com: What was your impression of the last week of the Giro d'Italia?
Matteo: Very hard climbs.
Matteo: But Basso completely dominated the race.
Matteo: Only Piepoli and Simoni seemed to be competitive with Ivan.
BiciRace.com: The team did well, taking two stage wins and third overall.
Matteo: Yes.
BiciRace.com: Do you think that the cancellation of Plan de Corones made a difference?
Matteo: No. Basso had 10 minutes advantage on the second position.
Matteo: Plan DC would have not made any difference for the final GC victory.
BiciRace.com: It would have been interesting to see them go from Passo di Furcia on to the top of Plan de Corones.
Matteo: yes.
BiciRace.com: Those gravel roads had some steep sections. I saw from the funiva (chairlift)!
Matteo: ah ok. eh eh.
BiciRace.com: What happened to Piotr Mazur?
Matteo: He had no more energy in his legs.
Matteo: He did a very good job the in the days before. He only missed the final three stages.
BiciRace.com: True. And overall the team was impressive.
BiciRace.com: Olson was strong...
BiciRace.com: Litu...
Matteo: Yes.
BiciRace.com: Pinotti... tutti!
Matteo: All the team preformed well.
Matteo: Olson finished a great Giro... It was his first "real" race in Europe!

Matteo: Pinotti was simply fantastic in the TT.
BiciRace.com: Pinotti had a flying TT. Third behind Ulle and Basso!
Matteo: Yes... It was impressive.
BiciRace.com: Was Gilberto happy with his third overall?
Matteo: Yes... He demonstrated that he is one of the best climbers in the world.
BiciRace.com: And now, what are your race plans, as a Direttore Sportivo?
Matteo: Italian Championships and the Tour baby!
