Robbie McEwen makes it 10 stage victories in Le Grande Boucle, fast approaching the total of Italian sprint legend Mario Cipollini, who holds 12. What's even more amazing than that to me, is that in all the pushing and shoving that goes on in a TDF bunch finish, he's never gone down in a crash (at least one serious enough to take him out of the race).
We also saw a possible nail in the coffin of Thor Hushovd's chances at an overall Maillot Vert with his relegation for irregular sprinting in the finale. The race is long and there are quite a few mountains to cross before it's all said and done.

The never-ending escapes of French no-names who don't stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning are nearly behind us as we reach the end of the first week and the Rennes TT Saturday! Thankfully, we have the last 5-10k of each stage to get the blood pumping and the adrenalin flowing to make things interesting.
