Saul Raisin (Crédit Agricole) won today's Langkawi stage to Cameron Highlands, just as BiciRace.com suggested as a possibility in our race preview. The young American (23) is built for this type of terrain and proved he has the goods to win in Malaysian mountains.

The stage opened with 80K of flat roads before hitting the first of two linked climbs that would cover over 50K of climbing. Attack after attack in the opening hour gave way to the day's winning move. Raisin joined the mostly South African escape group and had his eyes on the first climb to Kg. Raja starting at kilometer 85.

As the peloton closed in from behind, the mountain goats made their way off the front. Soon it was only Raisin with two South Africans (George and Lill) on the Cameron Highlands. Raisin dropped his companions with the finish approaching and nailed his first career win. BRAVO Raisin from BiciRace.com!

Tomorrow is a bit of respite before the riders will tackle the beast of the east, the Genting Highlands. The climbers will get freaky on this 36K climb that tops out at 1699 meters.
