Aaron Olson and Saunier Duval-Prodir Updates
Stage List,
Stage Profile
Saunier Duval-Prodir lost one of their crew members today: Piotr Mazur. It is the first loss for the team, and he will be missed.
Today was a bit of a rest day for the squadra gialla. The crew, along with Ivan Basso's CSC, controlled the gap to the five-man escape with their minds on the following two days.
Friday and Saturday's stages will determine the overall GC. Aaron Olson's abilities are going to be put to the max as he and his teammates setup for a Simoni coup. Il Trentino has to take 10'34" out of Ivan Basso to take the Maglia Rosa. It may seem like a lot of time, but Simoni is at home on the steep climbs of Passo di San Pellegrino (stage 19) and Passo del Mortirolo (stage 20).
Olson is going to have to ride to his limits to ensure that Simoni is in position to confront CSC's grip on the Maglia Rosa. Along with Pinotti, Mori and Litu, Olson will be called upon to drive down any attempts of escapes with a super high rhythm. L'Americano will need to stay in contact for at least the first two GPMs: Forcella Staulanza and Passo di Fedaia (Marmolada).
