Aaron Olson and Saunier Duval-Prodir Updates
Stage List,
Stage Profile
Aaron Olson was the last into Domodossola today. The American finished at the back of the main gruppo but all is fine with him. Olson was "resting", like the rest of the main peloton, after the day's big escape went free. The GC riders are saving themselves in preparations for the harder stages to come.
The team's morale was really given a boost yesterday by Leonardo Piepoli's win. We spoke with Matteo Algeri, Saunier Duval-Prodir Team DS, this morning to find out more.
How is Gibo? "He is good," replied Matteo, who was showing a friend around the start village. "Gilberto is really happy for Piepoli's win. The whole team had a lift in morale, which will help for the coming week."
And Pino? "Pinotti is great too. I was woken up early this morning, at seven, to take Pinotti to a doping control. The UCI doctors came only for him, but it is normal, part of their random checking. Talk about a rough job: being the doctor to knock on the door of a rider at seven in the morning, after a tough stage the day before!"
Look for the Squadra Gialla to have another "rest" day tomorrow, it is a sprint stage, before the pain commences with stage 16. They will tackle 173K, finishing on the Monte Bondone, in Gibo's home region.
