Aaron Olson did his job today and then cruised home, saving his strength for the coming stages. Olson, arriving 21'09" after the stage winner, stuck tight with the team captain, Simoni, helping him in the first half on the longest stage of this year's Giro d'Italia.

The Saunier Duval-Prodir team was helped by having Pinotti and Mori in the early escape. Both riders were off the front on the climb of Monte Catria, with il Toscano, Mori, going on to contend for the finale. It was a smart move for the squadra, enabling Simoni and the boys to ease off on the chase work, because they had a man in the escape.

Olson was seen by BiciRace.com at several portions in the race, including the gravel sections of Monte Catria, and he looked great. Sure he had a flat and expressionless face, but this is normal during such a demanding stage. Bravissimo Olson!
