Like a fine Swiss timepiece, the green and yellow TT machine of Phonak Hearing Systems worked flawlessly in today's opening stage of the 2005 Volta a Catalunya. They pushed their low profile BMC steeds faster than any of the other 22 teams over the 20.1 km course. In so doing, they placed their leader, Miguel Angel Martin Perdiguero, at the head of the general classification. Perdiguero won this race last year, but he'll have his work cut out for him this year as the Volta a Catalunya is now part of the UCI Pro Tour making it a very hotly contested race that will see the cream of the crop vying for the overall victory.
