Jittery Joe's-Kalahari Report

A hilly course that includes Mt. Alto, set to be a major factor in the TT. Lance Armstrong race to a TT victory here in 2004.

Team Jittery Joe's-Kalahari Goals: Make sure the protected riders do well and make sure the rest make the time cut.

Floyd Landis

The weather was overcast and warm at the start of the Time Trial stage in Rome, Georgia. There was intermittent light rain throughout the day. The rain kept the roads wet and the times slow. Many riders had problems cornering, and decided to take it easy before the next two hard stages.

The Early part of the TT test was dominated by Team CSC. First it was USA TT champion David Zabriskie, then it was Brian Vandborg. And later, it was Olympic hero, Bobby Julich.

Zabriskie hung in for a fine 2nd place overall, thanks to a very fast speed 2/3 into the race. He held the best time at the top of Mt. Alto, a climb that surprised many. Soon, Zabriskie was bettered by no-fuss Floyd Landis and Chris Baldwin. Floyd is an animal of speed, ate up the course to post a time just a nip under 40 minutes. It was a blazing time by Landis, on a wet course, that gave him the win today.

Bobby Julich put in a good time and so did Tom Danielson. Nathan O'Neill is always strong at the TT and rode well today, with a solid 5th. Question marks are surrounding Lance Armstrong, who came in with a "slow" time. All in all, today was a very exciting race for Floyd Landis and the fans.

Jittery Joe's, South Africa

BiciRace.com takes a closer look at the home team, team Jittery Joe's-Kalahari. Evan crashed a twice today, it was rough for him out on the wet pavement. Craig and Bruno went down in the same slick spot on the TT course, they are fine and preparing for tomorrow. Tim and Geoff had solid results. They, along with Jonny, kept it up-right, which was a huge deal on such a nasty day. "T-Lo" was amazing, riding an excellent TT. There was huge excitement in the team for Trent, he rode like a champion. BiciRace.com extents best wishes out to the orange boys of coffee.
