There is nowhere better in the world to show-off fashionable footwear than in Milano. At EICMA Adidas Cycling had some cool footwear on display. They had a range of goodies for your feet, from triathlon to classic fashion. What caught the eye of BiciRace.com was their pure road offering.
The AdiStar Ultra is the top end road shoe that Adidas offers. You might have seen these carbon-soled shoes on Thor Hushovd in the Tour de France, or in the United States on Tim Johnson. These are guys who demand a lot from shoes, and know a thing or two about cycling.
Like most shoes on the market, these AdiStar Ultras feature carbon soles. The carbon bottom allows for minimal loss of power when you are pulling and pushing on the pedals. Adidas keeps the carbon extra thin to make sure you are closer to your pedals (7.5mm = lower overall stack height).
The mesh and the closure system are what pulled BiciRace.com closer to these shoes. The mesh looks cosy, and the straps secure. On the upper side is a nice mesh (ClimaCool®) to keep the feet cool. The wide coverage bands on the two lower straps are designed to eliminate pressure points. While the third strap, a small ratchet, provides a fast and snug closure. Finally, BiciRace.com thinks the red and silver combo just looks fast.
