Brace yourself; the rider who tested positive in the Tour de France is Floyd Landis of Phonak. Swiss-Based Phonak confirmed that the UCI notified them of Landis' positive A Sample. The winner of the 2006 Tour returned a positive indicator of Testosterone/Epitestosterone after wining stage 17 to Morzine.
The American's win in Morzine elevated him back into the classification battle after suffering from a huge defeat on the day before, losing over 10 minutes before the finish of La Toussuire.
Phonak confirmed that their rider would be removed from competitive races, in accordance to the ethical codes of the UCI ProTour, until the situation was made clearer. They added that if the B sample test confirms the results of the A sample then Landis would be dismissed from the squadra.
"The rider will ask in the upcoming days for the counter analysis to prove either that this result is coming from a natural process or that this is resulting from a mistake in the confirmation."
