A great stage 4 yesterday won by McEwen of Davitamon-Lotto. The Aussie has gone two for two in the available sprint stages, winning stages two and four. McEwen will be the sprinter to beat for the remainder of the 89th Giro d'Italia, as his speed is incredible and Alessandro Petacchi (Milram) is out of action.

Nuyens Leaving QuickStep?

It is rumored that along with Paolo Bettini, Nick Nuyens may be leaving Quickstep at the end of the season when his contract expires. Rabobank, Davitamon-Lotto and T-Mobile are a few of the teams to show some interest in the gritty Classics Belgian star.

The presence of Tom Boonen on Quickstep is not cited as the primary reason for the alleged departure, but it couldn’t help that Boonen, who has similar goals to Nuyens is on the same team.
