Team CSC knows a thing or two about keeping hold of their valuable riders. Bjarne Riis was able to keep the team's star rider, Ivan Basso, in the fold when the Italian was getting top-euro offers from other teams for 2006. The good vibes are continuing: Yesterday we reported on the renewal of Carlos Sastre, and today there are three more riders. Brian Vandborg, Christian Vande Velde and Peter Luttenberger all have renewed with 1-year contracts for 2006.
"We're very close to having all contracts finalized," CSC team manager, Riis, said via CSC. "It's a pleasure to be so far ahead in the planning at this point already. It gives us space and opportunity to get started early on planning the details of our program for next year. Of course we want a diverse group like now [2005] with both experienced riders and new talents, and the three riders have already shown they deserve a spot on our team for next year."
BiciRace.com gives props out to Vande Velde. Il Americano continues to make his way in Europe with top-flight teams. He started his way with US Postal, then a year with Liberty, and now on to Team CSC. This year he was a valuable player in the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España. Bravo Vande Velde!
