After George Hincapie was finished racing the Hell of the North, his teammate Lance Armstrong (Discovery Channel) was busy in Southern California racing under the warm California sun. It was the Professional/Category 1 field of the Ojai Criterium (90 minutes) where Armstrong was putting in the training before the upcoming Tour of Georgia. Experienced professional, Harm Jansen (Helen's Cycles), took top honors, and Armstrong finished about 10th. The criterium was the Garrett LeMire Memorial Gran Prix and is the fifth NRC event
BiciRace.com inside sources say that "Lance Armstrong [was] repeatedly bridging on the hill," to give his legs a good stretch before going to the Tour of Georgia. Of course no Southern California criterium is held without rock stars, and in attendance was Sheryl Crow.

24-year-old Tom Boonen notched up an impressive victory yesterday in Paris-Roubaix. The day started out with sun, but also included rain, making the cobbles wet and nasty. The race was a dynamic Paris-Roubaix like always, and Boonen prooved himself worthy of being the man embraced as the new Belgian hero.
It was after 259 km that Boonen came around George Hincapie and Juan Antonio Flecha for the last time, to take victory. Boonen zapped his break-away companions in a superb sprint force. Boonen started his sprint in corner three and opened the gap out of the last corner as Hincapie tried to hang on. Boonen has now reached Belgium super-star status after winning Tour of Flanders last weekend and now Paris-Roubaix. He managed a unique double win that only eight other racers before him have accomplished. Read race report...
Yesterday there were other races going on for those who do not prefer cobbles. The Klasika Primavera in Spain may not rank up there with Paris-Roubaix in prestige, but it was nevertheless contested by such notables as world #1 Damiano Cunego (Lampre-Caffita), Chechu Rubiera (Discovery) and Paolo Salvodelli (Discovery).
